Trout fishers should use something as light as a two pound monofilament line or go as heavy as a six pound test. Anything heavier than that should not be used. More desirable results will be achieved when using just the right line as light as four pound test.

3. Check your hooks - Use a fastening device such as a small swivel to secure your hooks to your line. Let your lure perform as it should be by attaching the swivel in the middle of the line and the lure. It sounds pretty difficult but you'll eventually get it. Also, there are many different types of hooks but the most advisable to use are the gang hooks especially when you are using live worms as baits. As soon as the gang hooks are ready, tie them to the leader for easier connection to the swivel. Split shot sinkers should be added too depending on present water depth and current. This process, however, is time consuming as you will have to test how many sinkers you will need. As you go on, you can gradually take off or add more sinkers. The important thing is that the offering touches the bottom of the river.

Practice makes perfect. I know I often hear this cliché but it holds true to rigging a trout line. You will never get it right if you don't practice.
