Sunless Tanning Creams
By Marcy-Lipton
Tanning on your own using a self tanning cream may seem like a scary undertaking. Honestly, all it takes is practice and lots of experiments to pull off perfect results. The tips provided actually work so I hope you are taking down notes for this one.
Step 1 – Select a tanning cream. Find one that best works for you. This entails trial and error process until you discover the one that gives you the color you like.
Step 2 - Take a shower. The purpose of this is to scrape off dead skin cells. Doing so will help the skin absorb the cream and make it last longer. Use a shower gel to do this. Scrub your skin by making circular motion but be careful on the fragile areas like the chest to avoid getting rashes. Moisturizers, especially those with AHA, absorb the cream so never ever apply moisturizer onto skin after taking a shower and before putting on the tanning cream. If you can’t resist applying the moisturizer, only rub these on the elbows, feet, knees, and neck ten minutes before putting on the cream.
Step 3 – Prepare. Let your skin dry. Tie your hair so it doesn’t stick to your skin. Wear something that you are not afraid of ruining like cheap underwear.
Step 4 – Start the application. Go to a bathroom or somewhere near a sink to avoid mess. Apply the cream all over your body. Many people use gloves while applying but I recommend that you not use it. To prevent getting orange palms, wash hands every four minutes. Rub in circular motion starting with the legs.
Do not apply directly over knees and feet. Wash hands with soap and water. Apply over the chest next. Lather onto shoulders, neck, top of the back, down to the arms, to the elbows and onto hands. Wash hands again. Stomach, back, sides and armpits come in next. Don’t forget to wash hands again.
Put moisturizer to knees, top of feet and elbows fifteen minutes after lathering the self-tanner. Apply tanner to face, upper lip and back of ears. Wash your hands again. If you are not satisfied with your color, re-apply after three to six hours.
Step 5 – Use a blow dryer to dry the skin. After half an hour of applying, slip into old clothes which are worn only every after applying a tanner. Self-tanning should be done preferably before bedtime as it takes three to four hours before it is finally absorbed by the skin. Sleep well and by the time you wake up, you will have that golden tan that you want.
Step 6 – Maintain your color. The color, as per stories, does
not last for ten days so it is best to re-apply every three
days.
With any luck, these tips will work for you as it has
worked for me. The key is to find the right cream and practice until
you get the results you want. Go and find your self tanning cream and
start applying.
