Demodex Mites Symptoms
By Marcy-Lipton
Demodex mites are microscopic critters that thrive on our hair follicles. They are so small that a huge percentage of their hosts are not aware that they are infested by these mites. To help you with this problem, this article will give you:
- demodex mites symptoms
- their living conditions
- treatment and removal
These mites are pointed as culprits of acne and rosacea. Do you have any recurring acne and pimple problems? Maybe you are infested by demodex mites. Read this article to help you determine if you have infestation problems.
Let’s get started. The following are the symptoms of demodex mites:
- Acne, cysts, and pustules
- Enlarged facial pores
- Hair loss
- Itchy eyebrows and eyelashes
- Itchy scalp and face
- Oilier skin that normal
- Rosacea or facial flushing
- Swollen nose
If you have experienced any of the aforementioned symptoms, seek your doctor’s help for diagnosis and treatment.
These creatures live in your forehead, nose, chin, cheeks, and scalp. Why? The reason for this is that these areas produce large amounts of oils and hormones that they like the feed on. They penetrate the cells in these regions and feast on them. Don’t be surprised if you feel any itching during the night. That will probably be the demodex mites being active. During this time, they dash to the surface of your skin to procreate. After which, they go back inside your pores to lay their eggs (while taking with them bacteria from your skin). Unfortunately, their eggs are immune to pesticides so they cannot be removed that easily. When the eggs hatch and mature, this new generation of mites breed to bring more of their population. The cycle starts again and your face is filled with mites. When the mites die, their bodies are left inside our pores as they rot inside. Icky!
Quick! Save your skin! If you have learned from your doctor that you are infested with mites, ask for medication and topical treatments. Aside from topical treatments and in-clinic procedures, care for your skin at home by doing the following:
- Cleanse your face daily. Use tea tee oil facial wash, cream, oil, or soap. This oil has antibacterial and antifungal properties that can thoroughly clean your face.
- Change your pillowcases daily and, bed and bath linens frequently. You should wash everything with a mild laundry detergent added with ten drops of tea tree oil.
- A shampoo with tea tree oil is good for your scalp.
- Use your tea tree oil products without fail. About three to five months will do the trick. When the infestation is quite controlled, you can reduce the product usage to about twice a week. But if the infestation intensifies, use your tea tree oil skin care products consistently.
- Take multivitamins that can boost your immune system.
- If all else fails, ask your doctor for another way to get rid of the mites.
